Early Life and Education​
Mr. Tareen’s educational journey commenced with his formative years at Saint Mary Rawalpindi and Sadiq Public School in Bahawalpur. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Karachi, where he successfully completed his matriculation and F. Sc. Exams. Graduating from F.C. College in Lahore, he demonstrated early on his determination to excel. Eager to expand his horizons, Mr. Tareen embarked on a transformative journey to the United States of America for higher education. In 1974, he was awarded a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina. This marked the beginning of his quest for excellence.
Entrepreneurship and Agriculture​
Mr. Tareen’s leadership prowess extends across both the private and public sectors. His career commenced with a teaching stint at the University of the Punjab’s Department of Public Administration, followed by a brief tenure at Grindlays Bank in Lahore. However, it was his venture into farming that showcased his innovation and determination. He dedicated over two decades to developing his family farm in Lodhran, transforming barren land into a sprawling 2000-acre mango, cotton, and vegetable farm. His commitment to modern farming methods exemplifies his dedication to sustainable agriculture.
Business Visionary

Mr. Tareen’s entrepreneurial journey took flight when he assumed the role of CEO of his family-owned beverages business in Multan in 1981. Over the next eight years, he achieved remarkable growth. In 1989, Pepsico International recognized his potential and offered him a franchise in Lahore. Under his leadership, Riaz Bottlers Limited thrived, becoming one of Pakistan’s premier franchises.

In 1992, Mr. Tareen ventured into the sugar industry, establishing JDW Sugar Mills. Today, it stands as Pakistan’s largest and most efficient sugar milling operation, supported by its extensive sugar plantation and research organization. Mr. Tareen’s commitment to community development, small farmer empowerment, and innovative cultivation techniques have revolutionized the sugar industry.

Public Service​

Mr. Tareen’s leadership transcended the business world when he assumed the role of Chairman of the Punjab Task Force on Agriculture in 1997. His innovative policies, including eradicating agricultural pesticide adulteration and streamlining agriculture loans, left an indelible mark on the sector.

In 2001, he was appointed Chairman of the Punjab Task Force on Wheat Procurement & Marketing, where he revolutionized the wheat procurement process, making it transparent and corruption-free.

Political Career

Mr. Tareen’s political journey began in 2002 when he was elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. His visionary approach to governance led to the implementation of groundbreaking initiatives in education, healthcare, and industrial policy.

He continued to make a profound impact on Pakistan’s political landscape by joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2011. His resilience and determination were evident in the 2015 bye-election in Lodhran, where he emerged victorious, exemplifying his enduring commitment to serving the people.

The year 2023 marked the dawn of a new political era in Pakistan with the inception of the “Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.” Aiming to tackle the challenges that have beset Pakistan in recent years, Jahangir Khan Tareen stepped forward as a founding member. This appointment underscores his steadfast dedication to ushering in positive transformation and progress within the country’s political landscape.
